Who We Are & What We Do

Canines for Comfort is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We train and place canines into organizations that serve vulnerable populations. Our canines provide comfort and healing to survivors of crime.

What’s New?

Canines for Comfort launches the Remarkable Rescue Dogs program!

Our focus is simple with this program, heal shelter dogs so in turn they can heal others. We will take in homeless dogs from the Delta Animal Shelter in Escanaba, MI who are potentially eligible to work. We will care for, train, and place the Remarkable Rescue Dog into an organization that serves vulnerable populations.

We want to showcase that rescue dogs are capable of remarkable things!

Blue has been serving the Delta Regional Child Advocacy Center for one full year on December 15,2022. Take a look at her year in review.

Vera is now receiving on site training at both Escanaba Public Safety and the Delta Regional Child Advocacy Center. She has been loving it and doing a wonderful job of being the best girl she can be.

Our Goals

The Dogs

To provide the utmost level of care for the canines in training, and provide support to those who are placed with an agency. Through the Remarkable Rescue Dog program we will help showcase to communities that Rescue Dogs are capable of Remarkable things!

The Kids

To provide items that further support the impact the dog has on the survivor. For example, stuffed animals, dog photo cards, journals, and anything else that can enhance the effect the canine can have on the survivor.

The Community

To train and place canines in agencies and organizations that serve vulnerable populations. This includes but isn’t limited to Child Advocacy Centers, Law Enforcement, Prosecutor Offices, Mental Health Clinicians, Schools, and Hospitals.
